Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a fascinating talk on South Florida archaeology and ethnography, exploring early Indigenous cultures, artifacts, and regional history. Jen Green will present a history of South Florida enriched through the archaeological and ethnographic collections of the Florida Museum of Natural History (FLMNH) at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Using curation-based stories, Green will discuss the breadth of collections housed at the museum from Lake Okeechobee to the Keys and Gulf to Atlantic coasts that have been amassed over the last 130 years. Come learn about the curation and preservation of these fascinating collections and how they have shaped our understanding of the field.

After the presentation, enjoy a relaxing tea party with light snacks, refreshments and conversation. Registration required.
