Teen & Tween Open Mic Night for National Poetry Month

Program Description

Event Details

Young writers and poets will share their original poetry and short stories with the community. Participants get five minutes at the mic and should read original, family-friendly poetry or one-page short stories. Registration is only required for performers. 
 
Disclaimer: This program is open to teens and tweens as performers. Parents and accompanying adults are welcome to attend and enjoy the poetry; however, participation in the open mic is limited to registered youth performers. All creative writing and poetry must be family-friendly. Foul language or inappropriate themes are not permitted.

Tween Program

Guardians may choose to stay in the room with their tweens during programs or leave them with library staff. If the tween is between 8 and 10 years old, guardians must stay in the library during the program. Tweens who are 11 and 12 years old may stay in the library by themselves, according to library policy.
