Grades 6 -12
The SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing Strategies Workshop gives students the opportunity to learn the concepts and strategies needed to succeed on the reading as well as writing and language sections of the SAT. Recommended materials: pen, pencil, highlighter, and notebook.
About the Instructor: Carla Barry, a University of Miami graduate, has worked in the test preparation industry for the last decade. She believes that all students are capable of scoring well on the SAT or ACT when they receive the proper instruction and put forth effort outside of the classroom to reinforce new concepts and strategies. Carla devotes her time and resources to identify the best methods for standardized test preparation so that she can assist her students in becoming expert test-takers. By integrating critical thinking techniques into concept-based instruction, Carla teaches students easily understandable strategies to break-down wordy and complicated SAT and ACT questions. She enjoys sharing her knowledge to help students achieve their best possible scores, often leading many into the 99th percentile and procuring Bright Futures scholarships. Nothing brings Carla more joy than helping students to achieve their full potential on the SAT or ACT so that they may submit college applications with pride and confidence.
